Analysis of The Influence of The Tourism Supporting Sector on Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in Jambi Province 2005-2024

Introduction/Main Objectives: to analyze the development of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), the number of domestic tourists, international tourists, hotels, and hotel occupancy rates, as well as to examine the influence of tourism supporting sectors on the GRDP of Jambi Province during the period 2005–2024. Background Problems: the contribution of the tourism sector to the GRDP of Jambi Province still fluctuates despite its considerable tourism potential, thus requiring further analysis regarding the influence of tourism supporting sectors on regional economic growth. Novelty (optional): this study combines the variables of domestic tourists, international tourists, number of hotels, and hotel occupancy rates in a long-term time series analysis model in Jambi Province, which has rarely been comprehensively studied before. Research Methods this study uses secondary data with a quantitative approach during the period 2005–2024. The analytical methods employed are descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression using EViews 13, supported by classical assumption tests and hypothesis testing. Finding/Results: the results show that simultaneously the number of domestic tourists, international tourists, hotels, and hotel occupancy rates significantly affect the GRDP of Jambi Province. Partially, domestic tourists and the number of hotels have a positive and significant effect, international tourists have a negative and significant effect, while hotel occupancy rates have a positive but insignificant effect on GRDP. Conclusion: strengthening domestic tourism and developing accommodation facilities play an important role in increasing GRDP, therefore sustainable tourism development policies are needed.
